Hello. Welcome to my research page. My Name
is Vikas Nandwana and I hail from city of lakes Udaipur (India) which is rated as World's best city in year 2009. After completing high school, I appeared in one of the most prestigious exams of India, IIT-JEE and was ranked 1542 out of around 1,60,000 students from all over India which placed me into IIT Bombay India's top Engineering College. After finishing Bachelors and Masters from IIT Bombay, I enrolled in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Texas at Arlington and finished my Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. J. Ping Liu. I enjoyed the research thoroughly during my graduate studies and ended up publishing 20 research paper in peer reviewed journal along with more than 20 conference proceedings. My research has been mainly focused on synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles and nanocomposites and their use in potential applications. During my graduate studies, I have worked on

•       Chemical synthesis and self assembly of magnetic nanoparticles.
•       Morphological control of magnetic nanoparticles and its dependence on their magnetic properties.
•       Functionalized Au coated magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications.
•       Bimagnetic core/shell nanoparticles to develop magnetic nanocomposite for
high energy permanent magnets.
•       Alloyed magnetic nanoparticles for magnetic recording media.

Although my graduate work has been mainly focused on FePt and Fe3O4 nanoparticles, I have been also actively involved in study of other magnetic nanoparticles such as CoPt, CoFe2O4, Fe, Co, FeCo etc. which has enriched my knowledge and experience in the area of nano-scale magnetism and nanotechnology. The works I was involved in the development of advanced nanomaterials including magnetic nanoparticles and nanocomposites were reported in the PhysicsWorld and NanotechWeb  for their significant contributions to the relevant research fields.
